High School

Valley Alternative Magnet School is one of the smaller high schools in the Los Angeles Unified School District. Because of our small size we are able to individualize and maintain a family-oriented environment. Starting in the 11th grade, students have the chance to also go to Pierce College to take classes. This gives them the opportunity to experience college-level classes to prepare them for their future. Students go to Pierce College on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays. College class hours are from 12:50 to 2:30, and students are back in time to go home on the buses.

Pierce College

All students in 11th and 12th grade at Valley Alternative Magnet School have the opportunity to participate in Pierce College programs.

Students who elect to attend Pierce College work with the Valley Alternative Magnet School Assistant Principal and Pierce College Admissions representatives to select and enroll in classes.  Students attend the college either two or four days a week as part of their high school schedules.  They are fully integrated into the college environment and are held to the same academic and behavioral standards as all other college students.

The Pierce College programs provides real world experience to our students and prepares them for a variety of post-secondary educational opportunities.  We encourage all students to participate in the College program.
